10 DIY natural beauty hacks for lockdown days

While we are all following lockdown Protocols and sitting inside our homes working towards breaking the Covid transmission chain, most women are missing their essential beauty routines. Keeping that in mind, we are going to look at this problem in detail and also propose some DIY natural beauty hacks for lockdown days that could be prepared using bare minimum ingredients.

With the whole lockdown situation, the entire family is stuck at home for what feels like forever. While we do have some Covidiots, who are enjoying walks, exercises and gathering socially thereby fulfilling their aim to become human bombs, most of us are working hard to make sure everything runs smoothly at home while still being locked down.

Since we are living in four walls, we land up losing interest in following routines which earlier used to define our lives. A typical excuse during this time is that most of us have too much on our plates and by the end of the day, we hardly have any energy left (especially mothers who have so much more on their plates now). Who has the time to think or follow a routine, who is keeping track anyways but here comes the TRUTH!

Following a routine is a great way to stay positive and also keep some semblance of control in your life. Taking care of our body and mind is very important to stay healthy, especially during this time. When you look good, you feel good so following your beauty routine is of utmost importance.

Another thing that comes to our mind is that we might not have products that suit our skin or body. And obviously these don’t come under essential services which means you can’t order them online so this is the best time to introduce a few DIY beauty hacks for lockdown days. These might come handy later as well as you should always be against chemicals touching your body. Read about harmful chemicals in your beauty products

Split ends

Women have been God gifted when it comes to long  and beautiful  hair. I mean you can grow your hair as long as you want but then these horrible split ends come to ruin the entire look. Now most of us did plan our hair cutting sessions and to remove those untidy and bad looking split ends  A simple way to get rid of these is by using honey mixed with Olive Oil. Apply it just to the ends of your hair. This will give your hair much needed moisture and treat dry ends in a very effective way. You can repeat this process every 15 days or so based on your hair texture. The results will be amazing.

If you are one of those women who know about them and hate them with a vengeance, they would definitely come knocking very frequently just out of spite! However, a simple way is to mix honey with lemon juice and apply to the affected area at bedtime.

Dry lips

The weather is becoming dry and warm as is the season norm these days. This results in dry, chapped lips. An easy hack is to increase your water intake by at least double but that doesn’t happened overnight. A simpler hack for this is applying honey to your lips during bedtime. You will wake up next morning with soft and glowing lips.

Foot cleansing

Looking at the weather and the amount of running around happening in the house, it is obvious that your feet need a good spa session. Here is a hack of a  lifetime that will help you remove dead skin. Add 1/2 cup of Listerine, ¼ cup of vinegar and ¼ cup of lemon juice to ½ bucket hot water. Soak for 15 minutes or so. Wipe off that dead skin which will simply peel right off!

Another way to get rid of dead skin is by using bananas. Take two or three bananas. Make a paste and apply it on your feet. The potassium in those bananas helps remove the dead skin.

Treat fine lines

Use ice cubes to treat fine lines and also improve blood circulation. This would help your skin glow instantly. Washing your face with ice water at night is a great way to heal your unhealthy skin.

DIY mask for skin

If you are one of those women who have been gifted by God with rough dry skin just to give you another challenge in life, than this hack is for you. Mix 3 table spoons of honey and ½ table spoon of Cinnamon powder. Microwave it for 5 minutes and add lemon juice to it. Apply it and you get that soft glowing skin again. This mask also help reduce blackheads so it is a two for one. Honey is known as one of common ingredients in tons of natural beauty hacks.

Banana Mask

This is one of easy DIY beauty hacks. Banana has been the king of many hacks during this difficult lockdown phase. It is easily available and you would find it in every household. You can easily store it as well. Banana could also help brighten your skin. Mash a ripe banana, add lemon juice and one spoon honey. Apply it for 15 minutes and wash off.

DIY hair growth serum

A lot of us have heard about rice water for hair growth, now is the time to try it out. Get a 1/2 cup of uncooked rice. Clean it well, add water and boil them. Once the water has reached a boil, turn off the stove and strain the water into your spray bottle. Let it cool down before applying.

DIY Deodorants

Missed out stocking deodorants, just grab slices of lemon and scrub them properly. Do it regularly for a week and you can get rid of the odor in few days. And it is any day better than using products composed of chemicals. This is one of simplest and effective DIY natural beauty hacks.

Life has changed for all of us and we are trying our level best to adjust to the new normal. Hopefully the discomfort would soon pass and we would once again jump back into previous routines. BUT! It is time to think. Are we doing enough to make this Earth a better place for generations to come? Are we extending a helping hand when desperately required? It is time we think and work towards making our surrounding a better place.

In an article shared a few weeks ago, I covered how big companies market their products and make money out of it. Not only are these products harmful for our body and health but are also hampering the environment as a lot of natural resources are wasted in their manufacture. It is time we take a step back and think if we are acting as a catalyst in making the world a messy, virus filled place

A lot has been encountered in recent few weeks. Entire humanity is lockup and we see nature reclaiming the planet. This is not the time where we blame each other, it is time we do our part and make this world a better place to live.

  5. The banana mask looks luscious. I can’t wait to try it out. I have learned a lot about the benefits of 100% natural ingredients on your skin, and as we are what we absorb, I believe that it can also be a great overall energy booster.

  6. Great natural tips! I have very dry skin so I steam and use my jade roller for circulation and hydrating masks. I leave my feet to the spa when we open because I need a pedicure very bad.

  7. I miss my eyebrow lady so badly right now! She does an amazing job and my already quite bushy brows are already totally out of control, I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be able to last without taking my husband’s beard trimmer to them.
