If you are planning to use a pen, I would always advice a gel pen with a pointed nib. Choose a pen that allows writing to flow You don’t have to exert a lot of pressure on the pen to ensure consistent ink flow.

Check how to sit

Sit with your back straight, feel flat on the floor, legs uncrossed. You should always be calm and relaxed when you write. Many children curve their arm around the page while writing, but handwriting benefits from sitting up straight, with your forearm resting on the table, so that the arm moves the fingers rather than the wrist.

Maintain you grip

A nice and relaxed grip is one of the main things that will improve handwriting. A “relaxed grip” means that none of the muscles in your hand are overly flexed, and your fingernails shouldn’t be white from squeezing the pen’s barrel. Many people especially children tend to clutch the pen hard, which will result in an achy hand after a few minutes of writing. We often clutch without realizing we’re doing it, so try to mentally check every few minutes to make sure you’re still holding the pen comfortably.

Pick the right paper

It is important to choose the right kind of paper to start practicing your handwriting. You may find some notebooks with poor paper quality and that is a bad place to start. Always look for a good notebook that has support lines. Having support lines always help in practice. Once you feel you are good to go, may be you can start with rotation of paper or blank sheets.
